    Tasty and Easy Cabbage Fritters

    Raise your hand if you love eating crispy and easy Cabbage Fritters on a cold night or a rainy day.

    Why we love this Cabbage Fritters recipe without Eggs

    Obviously it can be made without Eggs making it Vegan

    They can be Deep fried or Air fried whatever method you prefer

    If you have a Mandolin, there is almost no prep time

    Ingredients you will need for these Crispy Fritters:

    Ingredients for Cabbage Fritters

    Cabbage - I used Mandolin to make even and thin slices

    Onion - Slice very thinly. I like to use Mandolin.

    Rice Flour or All Purpose Flour

    Gram Flour/ Besan or Chickpea Flour – You can use either Gram flour or Chickpea flour. Chickpea flour is made of white chickpeas and the taste is slightly different

    Ginger Garlic Paste – You can buy is ready made is some grocery stores or alternatively make your own by using 2 peeled Garlic cloves and ½ inch of peeled Ginger

    Cumin Powder – Very easily available in most grocery stores

    Curry powder or Garam Masala

    Turmeric Powder - For color and several medicinal values

    Red Chili Powder or Chili flakes (optional) - Use if you like the heat

    Salt

    Oil for shallow frying

    Step by step Instructions:

    Mix Cabbage Onion and Salt in a large bowl and keep aside for 10 minutes. This step wil release the water from Cabbage and Onions

    Add Curry Powder/Garam Masala, Cumin Powder and Turmeric Powder.

    Add Chili flakes /Chili powder if using. Mix well

    Add the Gram Flour/Chickpea flour and mix well. Add Rice Flour and mix well.

    Add water only a Tablespoon at a time to make a paste like mixture shown in the picture.

    Mixture for Cabbage Fritters

    Heat oil in a frying pan or a shallow pan.

    Add a thin layer of Oil.

    With your hands make a small patty and press to make it flat. Slowly add to the oil.

    Do not drop in oil from distance otherwise the oil will splash on your hands.

    Shallow fry for 30 seconds and with a spatula turn it over.

    Repeat once more to make sure both sides are nicely light brown in color.

    Remove on a towel lined plate to absorb extra oil.

    Remove excess oil from Fritters this way

    Repeat in batches until all the mixture is finished.

    Serve warm with Chutney of your choice such as Tamarind Chutney or Mint chutney or Ketchup.

    Recipe Variations for this Easy Cabbage Fritter recipe:

    Add handful of Coriander leaves.

    Add some thinly sliced Zucchini.

    Storing and Making ahead tips:

    Best when eaten fresh and warm.

    If needed make 2-3 hours ahead of time and warm in Microwave.

    • ½ tsp. Turmeric Powder
    • ½ tsp. Red Chili Powder or Chili flakes optional
    • ½ tsp. Salt Adjust per taste
    • ½ Cup Oil
